Photography

One spring day (in 2008), I found my dad’s old family Zenit 12XP in his closet. With his permission, I took it to play around. I was sure the photos would turn out beautifully. After developing the film, it turned out that only 10 out of 36 photos came out. The narrator then said: Welcome to the world of photography.

This experience pushed me to learn. What is shutter speed, what is aperture, how does film work, and... what is photography really? Turns out, the playtime was a lot of fun. It grew into something more. Into plans for the future.

Unfortunately, in 2012 it became clear that I had to choose a different career path. Photography was put aside, cameras went on the shelf, and preparations for applying to the Academy of Fine Arts were thrown away.

After nearly 10 years, I saw a video about the Holga 120 – a camera I had always wanted. Turns out, it’s being sold again and quite cheaply. And just like that, Pandora’s box was reopened.

For years, I mostly shot on film. That was partly because I couldn’t afford a digital DSLR, and partly because I loved the imperfect feel of analog. That’s why most of the photography posted here will be analog. But digital will pop up from time to time too.
